Live In Home Care

Our Aim

We at all times aim to provide a consistently high standard of recruitment and introduction of live in carers to enable our Clients to maintain their independence in their own home.

Nature of Service

We are introducers of carers who will work on a self employed basis to provide a nationwide 24 hour live-in home care and companionship service to Clients in cases of convalescence, respite or as a long term alternative to Nursing or Residential Care.

Home Care is the provision of personal caring and domestic services that are necessary to maintain an individual in a reasonable measure of health, hygiene, safety and ease in their own home.

Home Care tasks are comparable to those that could be carried out by a competent relative. Home Care does not include nursing care, which is care that needs the specialist skills of a qualified nurse, other than assigned tasks.

Specific requirements will need to be agreed between the client and the carer.

Home Care may include any of the following tasks:

>         Preventative application of creams / ointments following personal cleaning.

>         Monitoring prescriptions, overseeing collection/delivery of medicines.

>         Supporting users with dressings etc.

Ÿ Awareness of Client’s health needs.

>         Constantly monitoring health condition and circumstances of Client.

>         Recognise need to summon GP / Nurse / Emergency Services.

>         Co-operation with carers / relatives / district nurse / health visitor /  occupational therapist / social worker.

Ÿ Food and Nutrition

>         Support with dietary needs, including health related needs (e.g. diabetes)

>         Support with feeding and drinking.

>         Support with management of food stores / fridge etc.

>         Support with menu planning.

Ÿ Money and Shopping.

>         Assisting with preparation of shopping lists.

>         Shopping / accompanying Client to shops.

>         Supporting with handling money, pension collecting, bill paying.

>         Explaining day to day financial transactions such as shopping purchases to Client.

Ÿ

 Domestic Services.

>         Bed making including cleaning up after incontinence.

>         Emptying and cleaning commode.

>         General internal domestic cleaning.

>         General tidying.

Ÿ Supervisory Tasks.

>         Where it is necessary to assume supervisory and decision making tasks in relation to mentally ill Clients or Clients with learning difficulties living alone.

In addition to any of the above tasks there are also tasks for which competence is required:

Cutting of toenails of non diabetics with no overgrowth.

            Washing out urinary catheter bags.

            Changing urinary catheter bags.

Changing simple dressings covering minor injuries and chronic ulcers

            Inspection of compliance aids.

            Administration of inhalers and nebulisers.

This list is not definitive. Additional tasks, routines, procedures of a similar nature will require a level of competency in the required discipline and will need to be discussed between the Client/Carer and the appropriate healthcare professional such as the District Nurse/Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist in order to identify any appropriate training that may be required. In a 24 hour live-in situation there will inevitably arise some tasks that will not be appropriate for a Carer to perform. It would be impossible to list all such tasks but individual discussions may take place between Carer/Client/Health Professional should such issues arise.

Process for accessing our introductory service

Following initial contact from a Client or their representative, we will send out registration forms along with copies of our Terms of Business.

Once a client has registered with our service and where appropriate and should a client or their representative wish, we will visit a prospective Client for the purpose of discussing their care needs face to face. Not everyone wants to meet us in person but it can be nice in our experience, to put a face to the name. We are of course very happy with both telephone and email communications.

Following these discussions in whichever format a client prefers, we will look at the carers who are registered with us who, in our opinion, will best suit your needs and we will then share our thoughts and deliberations with you along with details of any of the carers who we have selected for your consideration. It is your choice whether you would prefer to 'meet' the carers on Skype/Zoom/Viber or similar or to simply have them arrive at your house on the agreed start date. You as the client, are in control of this process.
